Kara Taylor started her musical training at the age of four.   She has taken piano lessons consistently since 2003 from age 4 to the present, most recently under the private instruction of Steve Coleman and her piano professor at Berry College, Kris Carlisle.

Kara is a 2020 graduate of Berry College. Her bachelor's degree is in Music Education instrumental, vocal, and piano. She was a flute and piccolo player in the Berry College Wind Ensemble and the student conductor and director of the auditioned choir, Berry Singers. She was also a piano accompanist for student recitals and piano accompanist of the Berry College Wind Ensemble. Kara was a 2020 scholarship recipient of the "Rome Music Lover's Club Award".

Kara has offered piano, flute, ukulele, harp, and vocal solos in the following venues:  weddings, leading church worship, Nicaragua and South Africa trips, retirement centers, and special services.  She participated in the Georgia Federation of Music Clubs (“Festival”) since kindergarten, receiving a “5” Superior rating every year since 2003, earning the 15-point, 30-point, and the 45-point Gold Cup.  
She earned the 60-point Gold Cup, Festival’s highest honor, in February 2015 and was awarded the Festival's college scholarship for participating high school students.

In addition to piano, Kara plays the harp, flute/piccolo, ukulele, and several other related instruments, such as the guitar and tin whistle, etc.  As a music education major, she took methods classes learning all brass, woodwind, string, and percussion instruments.

Kara is a 2016 graduate of Kennesaw Mountain High School. She participated in the Kennesaw Mountain Wind Ensemble Band as a flute/piccolo player, being inducted into the Wind Ensemble as a freshman in high school. She was section leader, first chair flute, and two-time soloist in the Kennesaw Mountain Marching Band. Throughout high school, she received the "Most Valuable Sophomore, Junior, and Woodwind" awards, and in 2016 she received the "John Phillip Sousa Award".

Kara participated in “Teen Talent” Spring of 2013, offering a flute solo and placing first in the Georgia regional division for Woodwinds, going on to complete at the International level Summer of 2013.

Kara provides music everywhere she goes – at home, at school, at work, and on long car trips.  She has been an instructor at The Harmony House since 2013 and desires to continue sharing her passion of music with students of all ages for years to come. She offers lessons in piano, flute, piccolo, ukulele, harp, and voice, as well as instruction in songwriting, how to lead worship/play worship songs, and music theory in lessons for intermediate to advanced students.
